Just as the other countries of the Cinque Terre, Manarola is characterised by the famous tower houses; the village develops along the course of the Groppo torrent, now covered. In the main square stand the Church of San Lorenzo, in Gothic style, the Oratorio dei Disciplinati and the bell tower.
The white pyramid that rises from among the houses is very fascinating; it used to be a sign for sailors. Manalora is joined to Riomaggiore through the famous “Via dell’amore” a rocky path high up above the sea.
