Excursions in Portovenere For the next season, Portovenere will offer tourists a series of opportunities to experience one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Portovenere is a small Ligurian village near La Spezia; it is famous for its ancient castle, for its ancient houses and churches, and picturesque islands with many caves. In this marvellous village faced with the sea, tourists will be able to go on amazing excursions and trips. Indeed, along with the Cinque Terre, Portovenere was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. If you buy the ticket Portovenere + Cinque Terre (which costs around 50 euros), you get a 50% discount off the excursion to the islands. The “Tour of the islands” is an interesting trip on a ferry around the 3 famous islands. Guides will explain their history, tell about caves and many other places of interest. Among the famous natural areas of Portovere, there are certainly marine caves. On the Palmaria Island there are 36! During the excursion “Tour of the islands” the ferry will go inside some of these to let tourists admire them in all their beauty. The Cave of Arpaia is on the continent, near the Church of St. Peter.
